Emergency line answered 24/7 (concept)(614) 555-0123
Not sure what’s wrong? Call (614) 555-0123 and describe it. We’ll work it out with you.
Leak or burst pipe
Urgent: call nowWater where it shouldn’t be can do a lot of damage quickly. Stop the water first, then call.
- Shut off the main water valve. It’s usually where the water line enters the house, near the meter.
- If water is near outlets or appliances, turn off power to that area at the breaker, but only if you can reach it while standing somewhere dry.
- Move what you can out of the water and take photos for insurance.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
No heat
Urgent: call nowMost no-heat calls are a thermostat setting, a tripped breaker or a clogged filter. Check those, then call.
- Check the thermostat is set to Heat and a few degrees above room temperature.
- Check the furnace breaker and the switch near the furnace (it looks like a light switch).
- In freezing weather, open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls so pipes don’t freeze.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
AC not cooling
Book a visitAn AC that runs but doesn’t cool usually needs a technician. A few quick checks first can save a visit.
- Check the thermostat is set to Cool and the fan to Auto.
- Replace the filter if it’s dark or dusty.
- If the outdoor unit is iced over or humming without spinning, turn the system off at the thermostat and call.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
No hot water
Book a visitUsually a pilot light, a tripped breaker or a heater at the end of its life. We fix the first two on the spot.
- For electric heaters, check the breaker.
- For gas heaters, look for the pilot through the small window. Don’t relight it if you smell gas.
- If the tank is leaking from the bottom, turn off the cold water valve on top of the heater.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
Drain clogged or backing up
Book a visitOne slow drain is usually a local clog. Several backing up at once points to the main sewer line.
- Stop using fixtures that drain into the same line.
- Skip chemical drain cleaners. They can damage pipes and make the job riskier for a technician.
- If sewage is coming up in a floor drain, keep people and pets away from it.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
Strange noise or smell
Urgent: call nowMost noises can wait for a visit. A gas smell can’t.
- If you smell gas (rotten eggs), leave the house now. Don’t flip switches. Call your gas utility’s emergency number or 911 from outside.
- For a burning smell from the furnace or AC, turn the system off at the thermostat.
- For banging pipes or a rumbling water heater, note when it happens. It helps us find the cause.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.
Tune-up or maintenance
Book a visitA yearly tune-up for the furnace and AC, a water heater flush, or a once-over before you sell.
- Note the brand and age of your furnace, AC and water heater if you can. It’s on the label on the side.
- Have a look at our plans if you’d like visits scheduled for you.
General guidance only. A technician would check your situation on the call or visit.

Questions people ask first
Straight answers before you book.
Do you charge to come out?
There’s a diagnostic fee to send a technician, and we tell you the amount on the phone before you book. It’s applied to the repair if you go ahead.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. Your technician finds the problem and gives you a price for the work before starting. Nothing is added without asking.
Repair or replace: how do I decide?
When a furnace, AC or water heater is near the end of its life, we give you both prices and how long each option should last, so you can compare.
Do you work on all brands?
We service the common furnace, AC, heat pump and water heater brands. If yours needs a part we can’t get quickly, we’ll tell you up front.
Do I need to be home?
Someone over 18 needs to be there to let us in and approve the price. If you can’t be, call and we’ll work something out.
Need a hand at home?
